J.B. Morford, a native of Parkersburg, WV, has never bowled a perfect 300. A classically trained percussionist, Morford has earned both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Music Education from West Virginia University, and a B.S. in Physics from the University of Maryland. His compositional interests include the work of Zappa and Coltrane; the impressionist/symbolist composers from the turn of the twentieth century; folkloric musics of West Africa and the Diaspora; and musical translations of visual surrealism and op art. Morford has performed both domestically and internationally with Dr. Paschal Younge’s group, Azaguno, and as a member of the Dave Longfellow Ensemble. An active performer, composer, arranger, and educator, Morford is also a Gemini who enjoys long walks on the beach and has learned to appreciate the taste of blue cheese, but who rarely rides his bicycle.
